Das Duo des argentinischen Sopransaxofonisten und Bassklarinettisten Lucio Capece und dem Berliner Performer, Vokalartisten und Komponisten Christian Kesten präsentiert eine behutsam konstruierte Musik mit Hang zum Ambient. Ihre Stücke sehen sie als background sound zu alltäglichem Leben, der von der Offenheit und Präsenz ihrer Körper lebt. Lucio Capece präpariert dabei seine Instrumente z. B. mit Plastikflaschen, Tischtennisbällen, Wasser und mit verschiedenen Arten Papier; zudem verwendet er diverse analoge elektronische Aufbauten und persönlich entwickelte erweiterte Spieltechniken. Christian Kesten entwickelte ebenso ein Instrumentarium an erweiterten Vokaltechniken, mit denen er insgesamt das Geräuschhafte und die feine Nuancierung von Klangfarben in den Vordergrund rückt. Sein Umgang mit der Stimme ist eher abstrakt und unpsychologisch. Er lässt den Klängen Raum, in ihrer Eigenheit wahrgenommen zu werden.
Das Duo der irischen Musiker David Lacey und Paul Vogel besteht seit 2003. Sie kombinieren das Spiel sowohl auf traditionellen Instrumenten als auch mit diversen Objekten mit elektronischer Klangverarbeitung. Zufällige und unvorhersehbare Elemente werden aufgegriffen und in den Entstehungsprozess ihrer Musik integriert. Sie treffen den ebenfalls irischen, jedoch in Berlin lebenden Musiker Roy Carroll, der Klänge von Instrumenten, Objekten, Menschen und Plätzen aufnimmt und diese als Ausgangsmaterial für Klangbearbeitung verwendet.

Sein Spiel ist stark von Alltagselektronik und mechanischen Klängen beeinflusst.
Christian Kesten entwickelte ein Instrumentarium an erweiterten Vokaltechniken, die das Geräusch und die feine Nuancierung von Klangfarben in den Vordergrund stellen. Sein Umgang mit der Stimme ist eher abstrakt und „unpsychologisch“. Die Klänge haben Raum, in ihrer Eigenheit wahrgenommen zu werden.
Christian Kesten is a unique performer, singer and conceptual composer.
His background comes from working in Music Theater with Dieter Schenebel for 10 years, working as a member of the performance collective Die Maulwerker among several other rich experiences.
Kesten's work is clearly not related to the improvised music singing language, what makes his approach to the voice unique in the improvisational context. His sounds touch the sounds of the city, internal sounds almost impossible to hear, alternating with pure melody in a bright and delicious color. This together with a strong presence on stage based in a work with the body and it´s presence as an instrument. Kesten uses words, a few objects that take the concert situation slightly outside, going out and coming back to the music .
Lucio Capece plays Soprano saxophone, bass clarinet and sruti box, he uses his own extensions and preparations (ping pong balls, water, different kinds of paper, tubes, pieces of metal, plastic bottles, bows, etc).In the Bass Clarinet he uses mainly self created specific extended techniques, as well as a set of cardboard tubes,bows, and different kind of vibrating surfaces. His instruments are somehow “corrupted” by everyday objects, found objects.
The idea is not only to create interesting sounds with them but to consider the spaces where we live as main performers of the music.
Kesten and Capece regularly play as a duo. In usual and unusual spaces for music activity. They have also worked in a larger group together with Radu Malfatti, Julia Eckhardt, Taku Sugimoto and Toshimaru Nakamura in may 2007 at Vooruit, Gent, Belgium, material released as a CD under the name "Wedding Ceremony" (Cathnor, 2009). Also in Berlin in a sound research atelier with Axel Dörner, Andrea Neumann and Diego Chamy.
Kesten-Capece's work melts with the outside in a subtle counterpoint of carefully constructed music and “ambient” attitude. This includes song, considering it as background sound of everyday life and the open spaces that the presence of bodies provide, considering them not only as tools that play music instruments.

David Lacey and Paul Vogel have been collaborating since 2003, both as a duo and as part of larger configurations.Utilizing traditional acoustic instruments, electronic processing, faulty objects and the sound both inside and outside the performance space, they combine varying degrees of sound and silence to create work which questions the boundaries of what we perceive as being 'musical'. Accidental and unplanned elements are woven into the fabric of the music and the failure to perform and deliver is always a possibility.Alongside their work as improvising musicians, they have also composed music for theatre and sound works for radio. Current collaborators include Martin Küchen, Erik Carlsson, Angharad Davies, Lee Patterson and Mark Wastell. They have recently completed work on a new duo album, due to be issued in late spring. It will be the third release on their ‘homefront’ imprint. They are the co-curators of the ‘i-and-e’ festival of improvised music and sound art.
Roy Carroll records sounds from instruments, objects, people and places and reproduces them with a sampler in performance using traditional synthesis processes. As the sounds are reemerging into the air he intervenes directly by physically manipulating and preparing the loudspeakers, using materials such as table tennis balls, rubber bands, aluminium foil and discarded percussion. Roy is currently enjoying musical collaborations with Tom Arthurs, Justin Carroll, Anat Cohavi, Shane Latimer, Hannes Lingens and Keith O'Brien. He has collaborated extensively with choreographer Maya Lipsker, presenting their work throughout Europe.
